Sonear end-user agreement
Last updated: 6 November 2026
This agreement is between you and Hypox Studios (“we”), the maintainers of Sonear. By using Sonear you agree to it. If you don’t agree, don’t use Sonear.
What Sonear is
Sonear is an independent desktop app that plays music from your Spotify account. It is not made, sponsored or endorsed by Spotify. It uses the Spotify Web API and Spotify Soloist, which you download from Spotify and use under Spotify’s own terms.
To use Sonear you need a Spotify Premium account, your own Spotify developer app (a Client ID) and your own Soloist key. You must also follow the Spotify Terms of Use.
Sonear’s source code
Sonear’s source code is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. Nothing in this agreement limits what that license lets you do with Sonear’s own code. The restrictions below apply only to Spotify’s platform, service and content.
Spotify’s platform, service and content
“Spotify’s platform, service and content” means the Spotify Web API, Spotify Soloist, the Spotify streaming service, and everything provided through them, such as music, podcasts, cover art and metadata.
You may not:
- modify Spotify’s platform, service or content, or create derivative works based on them;
- decompile, reverse-engineer, disassemble, or otherwise reduce Spotify’s platform, service or content to source code or another human-perceivable form, to the full extent allowed by law.
No warranties
Sonear is provided “as is”. We make no warranties or representations on behalf of Spotify. We disclaim all implied warranties about Spotify’s platform, service and content, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Sonear may stop working at any time, for example if Spotify changes or withdraws its APIs or Soloist.
Responsibility and liability
We are responsible for Sonear, not Spotify. Spotify and other third parties have no liability to you for Sonear or for your use of it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages from using Sonear.
Spotify as a third-party beneficiary
Spotify is a third-party beneficiary of this agreement and of Sonear’s privacy policy, and may enforce this agreement directly against you.
Your data
Sonear’s privacy policy explains what Sonear stores and sends. You can log out, or delete everything Sonear stored, from Settings at any time.
Changes
If we change this agreement, Sonear asks you to accept the new version before you continue.
